AHPP SEEKS PUBLIC OPINION ON
HISTORIC PRESERVATION THROUGH ONLINE SURVEY
The
Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, an agency of the Department of Arkansas
Heritage, is seeking public opinion on future historic preservation issues
through an online survey at http://www.arkansaspreservation.com/annual-report/survey.aspx,
AHPP Director Frances McSwain announced today.
“The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program staff is preparing to update the
five-year statewide comprehensive preservation plan and we want to hear from
the people of Arkansas,” McSwain said. “It is vitally important that our
constituents’ opinions be fully and accurately reflected in the goals and
objectives that will guide program decisions.”
The survey will be available through September 15, after which the results will
be consolidated and added to information gathered at a series of listening
sessions that have been held around the state. The last sessions will be held
August 14 in Hot Springs and August 21 in West Memphis.
For more information, contact Patricia Blick at (501) 324-9665 or patriciab@arkansasheritage.org.

ACDS Award Recipients to be Announced at Annual Conference
Awards presented annually by the Arkansas Community Development Society will be announced during the annual conference on November 1, 2012.
Is there an individual or an organization that needs to be recognized? If so, please take a few minutes and submit a nomination. It will only take a small amount of your time and will have a big impact on the recipient. Nominations Due September 15, 2012
Nominations should be submitted by September 15, 2012. That’s just over a month away so there is plenty of time to recognize the efforts of those who are truly moving communities forward. If you have questions, please contact me at 501.650.1883. Other members of the Awards Committee are Pam Ferguson, Sue McGowan and Sydney Ross. You can download the nomination form at http://www.arcds.org/awards-scholarships-and-grants/annual-awards.html or request forms via email from moniecawest@gmail.com.
Annual Conference: Leveraging Assets through Collaboration (or moving from strategic planning to strategic doing)
If you have ever lamented over the need to remove silos and create connections across the community, this is the conference that will provide solutions. As community developers, we are very familiar with strategic planning but there is also a strategic approach to “doing.” Ed Morrison, a nationally recognized consultant and trainer from the Center for Regional Development at Purdue University will discuss a new approach for partners to work together. You don’t want to miss this. Questions or Need More Information? Questions about the awards: Contact Monieca West at 501.650.1883 or moniecawest@gmail.com Questions about the conference program: Terre McLendon at tamclendon@ualr.edu
